Wild Alaska Pollock Tacos to be Featured at Edgar’s Cantina in T-Mobile Park

SEATTLE, Wash.— Thanks to a significant grant award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), T-Mobile Park will become the latest in a series of venues featuring “sustainable sourced, delightfully delicious” Wild Alaska Pollock this year, the Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) announced today. Starting tonight and continuing through the end of the 2024 season, baseball and event fans will be able to enjoy a brand-new menu item: Wild Alaska Pollock Fish Tacos at the ballpark’s famous Edgar’s Cantina, thanks to an award under the Saltonstall-Kennedy Grant Program last year.

“It’s exciting to see the momentum that’s been built for Wild Alaska Pollock in sporting and event venues across the country,” said Bob Desautel, GAPP Chairman of the Board. “We had a hunch that Wild Alaska Pollock would be the perfect addition to stadium menus and that hunch has proven to be true. We couldn’t be prouder to see Wild Alaska Pollock at such an iconic Seattle sports ballpark and are excited for the fans there to become fans of our fish, too.”

The new Fish Tacos will be a welcome addition to the menu at Edgar’s Cantina starting June 28, 2024 and continuing through the end of the season. GAPP has been working on menu ideation with T-Mobile Park’s foodservice provider and on finding the right venue within the ballpark for this trial, for months.

“We’re incredibly confident that with one taste we’ll have new fans of Wild Alaska Pollock and repeat purchasers of this menu item, game after game,” said Craig Morris, GAPP CEO. “We’re elated to have this menu item trialed in such a prominent location as Edgar’s—which has a vibrant vibe, fantastic food, and is an overall fan-favorite at baseball games and other events.”

In 2023, GAPP became the recipient of $300,000.00 in NOAA grant funding to put towards increasing awareness and menu penetration for Wild Alaska Pollock in sports and entertainment venues. Since receiving the grant, GAPP has been able to continue and elevate its partnership with the Seattle Kraken and Climate Pledge Arena and, this year, expanded its reach to New York and the famed hockey Islanders, through a partnership with UBS Arena.

“We’re pumped to keep working with hockey teams and venues but are ecstatic to enter into the world of America’s favorite pastime: baseball, with this newest collaboration at T-Mobile Park,” added Morris. “This partnership gives to us at GAPP a whole new meaning for ‘take me out to the ballgame’—peanuts and cracker jacks better watch out now that Wild Alaska Pollock is on the menu!”

A full update on the Saltonstall-Kennedy Grant and GAPP’s work will be provided to attendees at the upcoming Wild Alaska Pollock Annual Meeting at the W Seattle on September 26, 2024. This year’s event will run from 8:30am – 5:00pm with an evening reception to immediately follow. Registration is available here for those wishing to register to attend the Wild Alaska Pollock Annual Meeting either in-person or virtually. GAPP’s annual meeting is exclusively for those connected to the Wild Alaska Pollock fishery and registration is subject to approval by GAPP.
