GAPP Takes Turn on this Weekend’s NASCAR Track

SEATTLE, Wash.— The GAPP logo will grace the side of Michael McDowell and the Long John Silver's Ford team’s NASCAR car this weekend, the Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers announced today. The team, now with a new supporter in Wild Alaska Pollock, head to the half-mile Martinsville (Va.) Speedway this weekend for the NOCO 400.

“More Wild Alaska Pollock in more places is our mission,” said Craig Morris, GAPP CEO. “This certainly fits the bill and we hope that Wild Alaska Pollock brings No. 34 even more luck in Virginia this weekend.”

The team is coming off a top-15 finish this past weekend at the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt race, finishing 11th. Track activity begins Saturday with practice at 4:35 p.m. and qualifying following at 5:20 p.m. ET. Sunday's race is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. ET on FS1.

Long John Silver’s has long been one of the Wild Alaska Pollock industry’s most loyal customers, featuring the fish in multiple dishes and menu iterations over the years. The partnership with GAPP is a natural fit and the organization will explore opportunities to expand the collaboration—perhaps through the GAPP Partnership Program—in the coming months.

"There are some logical sports collaborations that we’re now engaged in,” said Morris. “We’re conquering hockey with the official launch of our partnership with Climate Pledge Arena and NHL playoff-bound Seattle Kraken, where Wild Alaska Pollock is now the team’s and arena’s official whitefish. We’re now headed to NASCAR and soon may be announcing an exciting baseball partnership as well. It’s clear that Wild Alaska Pollock has a place in all of America’s greatest sports pastimes!”

After an 11th-place finish at the Bristol Motor Speedway, McDowell and the No. 34 Long John Silver's crew have momentum on their side. The team has four top-15 finishes this season. The best finish this season for the team is sixth at the Richmond Raceway. They are now looking ahead to another short track. GAPP worked with team owner, Front Row Motorsports on the logo placement and partnership for this weekend’s race.
