GAPP Launches New Korean Website Targeting Key International Buyers

SEOUL, South Korea— Korean buyers of U.S.-caught Wild Alaska Pollock now have a new suite of online resources dedicated exclusively to them, the Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) announced today. Following GAPP’s German-domain and language website and preceding a Japanese-domain and language website set to launch later this year, the new GAPP Korean-domain and language website launched today with new business-to-business sales resources for GAPP’s member companies to reference when doing business in this top export market for Wild Alaska Pollock.

“GAPP continues to build out a robust international marketing strategy in key markets like South Korea, where Alaska Pollock—or Myeongtae—is the national fish,” said Craig Morris, GAPP Chief Executive Officer. “We know from our loyal U.S.-caught Wild Alaska Pollock customers that Russia invests significant marketing resources in this prosperous export market and so we need to continue to advance our unique selling points here and this new website is just the first of many efforts to do that.”

GAPP worked with in-region commodity marketing experts Sohn’s Market Makers to create the new landing pages, sales resources and information contained on the site. GAPP had worked with the agency early this year to create new sales sheets in Korean, as well as Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese in advance of major food trade shows throughout Asia and Southeast Asia.

“Late last year I had the opportunity to accompany some of GAPP’s member company international sales teams during trade shows and trade missions, and I realized we need better materials and information about our fish,” said Morris. “We set out to create unique materials—in the languages where we’re doing business—that talk about U.S.-caught Wild Alaska Pollock’s unmatched sustainability, provenance, and traceability.”

The website launch coincides with a GAPP leadership trip to Seoul where GAPP CEO Craig Morris will meet with key customers across retail, restaurant and manufacturing channels and continue to learn how GAPP can support increased U.S.-caught Wild Alaska Pollock purchases in this important foreign market. Morris will also be promoting GAPP’s Partnership Program, which hopes that the program will see new applications for funding matches in 2026.

“This is such a critical market for our fish, and we must continue to foster it,” said Morris. “I’m excited about future growth here and our strong partnership with one of Korea’s top marketing agencies to better promote our fish and the attributes that only come with Wild Alaska Pollock.”

GAPP’s new Korean-language website and associated resources can be accessed www.usapollock.co.kr.
