GAPP Elects 2020 Board of Directors, Officers at Annual Membership Meeting

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON—The Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) announced today the re-election of its current Board of Directors and Officers for the coming year. The eleven Board of Directors, approved by the membership as a slate, will continue to represent the entire Wild Alaska Pollock fishery and be comprised of executives from the various organizations and companies with a share of the total allowable catch (TAC). Mikel Durham of American Seafoods will remain GAPP’s Chair and Doug Christensen of Arctic Storm Holding Company will remain GAPP’s Treasurer, Secretary and Vice Chair.
“A debt of gratitude is due to these leaders who have taken time out of their full-time jobs to help helm this critical marketing organization,” said Craig Morris, Chief Executive Officer of GAPP. “I am grateful that the Membership saw fit to re-elect the current Board to continue to chart the course for GAPP next year and into the future.”

The GAPP membership also approved the 2020 assessment rate for GAPP members which will remain consistent the coming year. Additionally, the GAPP Board approved a total budget of more than 4 million dollars, an increase over this year’s budget. The specific line-items and projects to be funded will be determined at the organization’s March Board of Directors meeting but will continue to focus on building demand and increasing awareness for Wild Alaska Pollock worldwide.

“GAPP has created real momentum building awareness and creating innovative applications for Wild Alaska Pollock during this year,” said Mikel Durham, GAPP Chair. “Our primary focus has been in North American but will expand to include Europe and other markets shortly. I’m thankful for my fellow Board Members and our market facing partners — this perfect protein is beginning to gain the fame it so deserves!”

A special election will be held to determine the Board representative for the Gulf Catchers and Processors in March. A complete list of the full re-elected Board of Directors can be found on the GAPP website at: www.alaskapollock.org/members.
