Sponsor Blog Post: Beck Pack Systems

We are incredibly grateful for our Gold Level Sponsor: Beck Pack Systems whose generosity has made the fifth-ever Wild Alaska Pollock Annual Meeting possible! We asked Beck Pack Systems why it was so important to them to partner with the Wild Alaska Pollock industry on its annual meeting and what they love about the incredible fish and fishery and here’s what they had to say!

Q: What’s one thing that Beck Pack wants to know about the Wild Alaska Pollock industry?

A: We’d like to know more information as to how Wild Alaska Pollock fishing is progressing for processors, our customers. We’re also interested in better understanding Wild Alaska Pollock size and catch areas and how the catch is going for the season, as well as the seasonal movement of Wild Alaska Pollock and fluctuations therein. Lastly, we would like to know the leading market trends for Wild Alaska Pollock products.

Q: What session on the GAPP Annual Meeting agenda are you most excited about and why?

A: We always love to hear what Senators Murkowski and Sullivan have to say about the state of the fishery as it relates to what’s happening at a national level and as it pertains to key issues that affect the industry like the battle to remove Chinese twice frozen product from the US. We are also really excited about the GAPP “State of the State” from CEO Craig Morris as we love to know what our investment is getting us and the industry as GAPP carries out its mission. We also always look forward to the Fishery Update with Ron Rogness and are very interested this year in the data that will be presented about Surimi as well, specifically understanding if there are trends against block production and how Russian production is affecting U.S. surimi manufacturers.

Q: What makes it such a great partnership between Beck Pack and GAPP?

A: Beck liners are the packaging for fish and roe blocks. At Beck we feel great responsibility for the Wild Alaska Pollock industry. The more information we have, the better we can perform for our customers.  And the more we can assist the industry, the better it will develop and prosper.

Q: Why did you decide to sponsor this year’s event?

A: The work that GAPP has been doing to develop Wild Alaska Pollock in the global marketplace and especially the United States, has been above any expectations we have had for any Wild Alaska Pollock since its inception in the 1980’s.  We are so excited to see where GAPP can take us!
